About Shareef

Shareef has more than 15 years of financial restructuring experience across a wide range of industries. He has represented companies, lenders, and customers, and has an extensive background in commercial lending, risk management, and financial turnaround and restructuring.

Helping clients successfully navigate challenging situations is very rewarding and is the primary reason I love being part of the Amherst team. By working hard, developing creative and collaborative ideas, and using a principled approach, we earn the trust and respect of our clients and other stakeholders, and achieve the best possible outcomes.

Prior to joining Amherst Partners, Shareef was a Director with business advisory firm Alderney Advisors, where he specialized in assisting automakers and manufacturers assess risk and manage financially distressed suppliers.

Previously, Shareef served as a Vice President in Comerica Bank’s Special Assets Group, focusing on complex middle-market cases, including distressed manufacturers, large bankruptcies, and fraud-related matters. By analyzing data, developing strategies, and negotiating with various interested parties, he was able to achieve successful rehabilitation or workout of nearly 100 distressed borrowers.

Additionally, Shareef worked as a commercial lending credit officer at Comerica, where he led a complete restructuring and rebuilding of the bank’s Arizona market portfolio, and oversaw a team managing assets across in Michigan, Arizona, California, and Texas. In this capacity, he led the structuring, underwriting, and due diligence of multiple deal types, including leveraged financing, asset-based lending, and commercial real estate.
