Shareef Simaika is a Director in Amherst Partners’ Restructuring Advisory Practice with 15 years of financial restructuring experience across a wide range of industries. He has represented companies, lenders, and customers. He has an extensive background in commercial lending, risk management, and financial turnaround and restructuring.
Prior to joining Amherst Partners, Shareef was a Director with business advisory firm Alderney Advisors, where he specialized in assisting automakers and manufacturers assess risk and manage financially distressed suppliers.
Previously, Shareef served as a Vice President in Comerica Bank’s Special Assets Group, focusing on complex middle-market cases, including distressed manufacturers, large bankruptcies, and fraud-related matters. By analyzing data, developing strategies, and negotiating with various interested parties, he was able to achieve successful rehabilitation or workout of nearly 100 distressed borrowers.
Additionally, Shareef worked as a commercial lending credit officer at Comerica, where he led a complete restructuring and rebuilding of the bank’s Arizona market portfolio, and oversaw a team managing assets across in Michigan, Arizona, California, and Texas. In this capacity, he led the structuring, underwriting, and due diligence of multiple deal types, including leveraged financing, asset-based lending, and commercial real estate.
Shareef earned his Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Michigan State University. He is a Certified Turnaround Professional and an active member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA), Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), and the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI).
