Konica Minolta (“Konica” or the “Company”), based in Tokyo, Japan, is a global leader in diverse markets including graphics and imaging technologies.
The Company wanted to divest it’s American Litho, Inc. division due to it’s positioning outside of Konica’s core competencies. Based in the U.S., American Litho manufactures aluminum printing plates used in the production of newspapers and other graphics.
For Konica, it was critical that whoever purchased the subsidiary, would be able to service the Company’s existing customers without any disruptions in its operations.
Amherst was retained by Konica Minolta to advise in divesting its American Litho subsidiary.
Amherst ran a very focused sales process, where only a select group of buyer prospects were approached. The focus was on industry participants who had the ability to service the significant customers post-transaction.
Konica Minolta successfully completed its divestiture of American Litho, selling the venture to Southern Litho of Raleigh, NC.
Amherst assisted in all phases of the process from initial strategy-setting to due-diligence and closing.
The Company was sold, and the customers continued to be served effectively.
